This small piece carries weighty theology. God created Adam and Eve as image bearers of God with a will either to obey or disobey their Creator. He put them in a beautiful garden to care and tend it. But He commanded them not to eat of The Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil or they would surely die.
Adam and Eve ate of the fruit of this tree and their eyes were opened. They knew thay had been separated from God and were doomed to die. But this is the hope! Even though they disobeyed and ate the fruit, God in His sovereign plan had already predestined a people for Himself with hearts that would obey Him and glorify Him. He chose a bride before the foundations of the earth. The fruit was an eternal entrance, a doorway to everlasting life!
