Grace Carol Bomer

Born: Barrhead, Alberta, Canada,

Although Carol is a native of Alberta, her artistic career began in Kansas and continued in Asheville, NC, where she and her writer husband have lived since 1981. Carol received a B.A. in 1970 in Secondary Education in English and History from Dordt College in Iowa, and then taught school for six years in Canada. After moving to the U.S., she began working professionally as a painter in 1976, and has shown nationally and internationally. Last year she taught a mixed media workshop at Luxan Fine Art Academy in Shenyang, China.

Carol's work seeks to evoke both image and impression, the tangible world and the spiritual world. Her work has been called "a silent form of poetry." She views her work as "a form of play rejoicing before the face of God" (Rookmaaker). This is reflected in the name of her Asheville studio, SOLI DEO GLORIA STUDIO.
